How to update your boardroom on a budget

By Rachelle Dare on in Design

The word boardroom often conjures an image of a formal and possibly intimidating set-up! It might give you flashbacks to an interview you did, or long meetings sitting on uncomfortable chairs.

And if you’re in charge of giving the boardroom an update, you might be thinking ‘corporate’ and ‘expensive’.

Giving your meeting room a makeover needn’t be costly or overwhelming though. We were so pleased with how everything came together on one of our recent projects, we wanted to share some tips!

Retro piece

A well placed second hand piece of furniture can add depth and interest to your boardroom. As well as looking stylish, it’s a lot more environmentally friendly than buying something new.

Replace your chairs

If people will be spending lots of time in meetings, then comfort is key! Chairs come in all shapes and sizes to suit a variety of bodies. You could even have a mixture. Changing your chairs is also a great (and cost effective) way of adding colour or texture to the space. With a vast array of fabrics to choose from, you’re sure to find the right fit.

Cushions

An inexpensive way to add colour, prints and shapes to your board room. Not only do cushions offer an extra element of comfort, they help soften the often hard edges of meeting furniture whilst also injecting some fun!

Plants

At Love your workspace we love a good plant of two. In our opinion there’s nothing like some glossy green leaves to bring a space to life. Plants have well documented benefits for wellbeing and productivity. Did you know they also reduce stress, clean the air and have acoustic properties? Need we say more.

Artwork

Just like plants, artwork can have a positive impact of wellbeing and productivity. Art can provide a splash of colour where there is none, or provide a talking point in an otherwise muted space. Research has shown that employees that have control over the design of their workspace are 32% more productive – time to get everyone involved?

Featurewall

If you’ve got budget to spare, perhaps a featurewall could be on the cards. An easy way to liven a space, create a bold statement, and perhaps even include your corporate colours.

Table

Last but certainly not least, your boardroom table. An essential piece of the puzzle! With so many styles to choose from it’s important to pick one that suits the space. Decide if you want a high end, sleek or a softer natural style. There are plenty of finish, top and leg options to choose from, as well as power to suit.
